Fair Housing Basics – English

Are you a housing provider or lender? During this workshop receive guidance on how you can best work with your tenants and home buyers impacted by COVID-19 in order to follow fair housing laws. You will learn about ways to communicate with your tenants, documentation for tenant assistance, key elements of a repayment plan, landlord obligations, fair lending, and how to avoid discrimination. Additionally, if you think your client has experienced unlawful discrimination in housing you will learn how they can file a complaint with SERI. You will receive a certificate for attending the full workshop.

Discrimination Based on Sex and Fair Housing – English

Discrimination in housing because of sex is illegal. During this workshop you will learn how sex is protected under the Fair Housing Act along with what falls under sex (gender identity and sexual orientation), HUD policies and rules, what is prohibited, examples of discrimination, and sexual harassment. Additionally, if you think you have experienced unlawful discrimination in housing because of sex you will learn how to file a complaint with SERI. You will receive a certificate for attending the full workshop.

Do you know what lead poisoning is? During this webinar you will learn what lead is and how it can harm your child. You will find out what items in your house can contain lead and signs of contamination in your environment. In order to protect your child from lead you will receive guidance on best practices and how providers can help. You will learn about next steps to protect your child from lead through the City of Tucson’s Lead-Based Paint Program including pre-qualifications and what you can expect from participating.

Did you know? Pima County is listed as the top 4th high-risk ZIP codes in Arizona for children with high levels of lead in their blood. If you are pregnant or have a child under the age of 6 living in your home (or visiting frequently) it is important to know about lead poisoning to protect your family. For National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week 2021 we want to educate you on childhood lead poisoning prevention and resources in your local community. During this event, you will get the opportunity to watch a live interview with Lorena Verdugo, Community Health Coordinator at El Rio Community Health. Lorena will be discussing the importance of lead blood testing for children, what the process is like for getting your child a lead blood test, and information on the City of Tucson's Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Program.
