Sprout Organics voluntarily recalls Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach Pouches

Sprout Organics, effective September 16, 2025, has initiated a voluntary recall of a specific lot of Sprout Organics® Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach because it may contain elevated levels of lead. This 3.5 oz. pouch was sold in Walgreens stores and some independent stores in the US South region, primarily between September and December 2024. Notably, it was not distributed in any other major grocery chain except Walgreens. 

Exposure to even low levels of lead can increase blood lead levels. Prolonged exposure to enough lead can affect a child’s learning and development or cause long-term health problems. Although no illnesses have been reported, the company initiated this recall following routine sampling. It’s important to note that this recall does not affect any other Sprout Organics products. 

If consumers have a product matching the following description in their possession, they should return it to their local store for a full refund. The lot code 4212 and expiration date 10/29/2025 are printed on the bottom strip on the back of the pouch.
