Shrimp Paste Recalled Because of Potential Lead Contamination

In January 8, 2026, Gusto Group Inc. (Paterson, NJ) has voluntarily recalled Klong Kone Shrimp Paste because of its potential to be contaminated with elevated levels of lead. The recalled product was sold at Golden Land in Des Moines, IA and Terri Lee Oriental Groceries in Maywood, NJ between April 2023 and December 2023. The recalled shrimp paste comes in two sizes (454g and 910g), packaged in a white jar with a red cap. To date, there has been one report of four children becoming ill, which involved diarrhea and elevated blood levels. People who bought this shrimp paste should return the product for a full refund.
