Although almost every bodily system can be impacted by lead, the effects vary depending on age, body weight, and the quantity and duration of lead exposure. A fetus’s central nervous system may sustain irreversible harm if exposed to lead for an extended length of time (for example, weeks to months). Learning disorders, developmental defects, and other chronic health issues may arise from this. On the other hand, chronic lead exposure in adults is linked to kidney disfunction, hypertension, increased risk of mortality from cardiovascular disease, and neurocognitive effects.
