On 26 August 2022, the PBS NewsHour aired a segment on how saguaros are being affected by rising temperatures and drought conditions. The saguaro segment begins at minute 45:55.
The video features a National Park Service study of saguaro flowering, in which a GoPro camera mounted on a long selfie stick is used to take daily photos of the saguaro crown. This summer the research team finished their sixth season. Dr. Theresa Foley of SERI is a principal investigator of this study.
