More Zaarah Herbal Powders Recalled due to Newfound Health Risks

As of March 10, 2025, New York Wholesale Group of Hicksville, NY is recalling more of its herbal powders, namely their Rasayan Churan powder, Gurmar Powder, Vasaka Powder, and Bhringraj Powder due to its potential to be contaminated with lead and arsenic.

Although almost every bodily system can be impacted by lead, the effects vary depending on age, body weight, and the quantity and duration of lead exposure. Short-term exposure to very low levels of lead may not have any symptoms. Likewise, a fetus’s central nervous system may sustain irreversible harm if exposed to lead for an extended length of time (for example, weeks to months). Learning disorders, developmental defects, and other chronic health issues may arise from this. Chronic lead exposure in adults is linked to kidney disfunction, hypertension, increased risk of mortality from cardiovascular disease, and neurocognitive effects.

On the other hand, consuming arsenic has also been linked with cancer, skin lesions, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Neurodevelopmental defects and an increased chance of developing cancer in the future can result from exposure to arsenic during fetal development, infancy, and childhood.

These Zaarah Herbal products were distributed to retailers located in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California from December 20, 2024 until January 07, 2025.
