Local Data for Equitable Communities

Assessing housing conditions and climate vulnerability to prioritize housing repair and heat mitigation efforts.

Tucson has warmed by 4.5°F since 1970, making it one of the fastest-warming cities in the U.S. Heat-related deaths continue to rise, especially in low-income neighborhoods where poor housing conditions leave families most vulnerable.

At SERI, we are launching a project to better understand and address these risks. We will be conducting 500 free home assessments in southern Tucson to identify hazards like extreme heat, mold, and falls. Families who participate will receive items that help with weatherization and insulation, and together we can use this information to guide local policies and programs.

By joining this effort, you will not only gain valuable information about your own home, but also help us direct resources like home repairs, water conservation, and solar programs to the neighborhoods that need them most. Together, we can build safer, healthier, and more resilient homes for our community.
